A small documentary movie conceptualized by Dr.Shantanu Nagarkatti. Hardly 38 minutes and it gives you the most contemplating feeling about Why I got Married? It was amazing to see this one. A must watch for atleast three kinds of people

Umerkot - Not Very Fine Dine-in Experience

Just back from Umerkot and thought of shooting a review. Well I was very excited as many a people had told me that it is too good but didn’t live upto my expectations. I am a regular foodie and love
to enjoy the Food with Wine.
Ok lets get down to business as usual.
The entrance itself was not very impressive and once we entered (I and my heart-throb), it felt like if someone has lent out his drawing room and dinning room with 14-15 plain tables with chairs to sit around. The ambience was not awesome or one of those types which you see and say, WoW!!!!!
Now if you have read that chefs were from one of the best five stars, you would atleast expect that the Kitchen Staff in their open kitchen wears gloves and a hat to cover their head. Now that was a yuck experience. No gloves while making chapatis/breads.
Ok!!!Anyhow we settled down just in front of the kitchen doors and to our side was the cellar. We ordered Budweiser and Fresh Lime Soda with Murg ki Chaanp. The dish was awesome. If you want to check out what it is check it on their site http://www.umerkot.in . I will say the food was good but the presentation was not awesome. We ordered Murg E Rogan along with one Gilafi Kulcha and Lahsooni (Garlic) Naan in the main course. The food was good in taste. No doubts about that.
I will rate food 9 out of 10, but the presentation, ambience and other things scores 6 out of 10. But definetly I am not going to give marks in terms of Hygeine. It should score below 2. Also a fine dining restaurant is a place where you enjoy your food in great music not in the clatters of plates and spoons. Now don’t come up with the excuses that it was friday night and the place was overcrowded. I guess with around 30-40 people you don’t say the place is overcrowded. It is normal. A drink served with complementary snacks like warm peanuts or cashewnuts would have been rated as a good gesture.
A fine dining experience is not about good and tasty food. Other things also scores in getting back the patrons. And yes this time with all the ratings I have given I would definetly say that the cost was on the higher side. I got a bill of around 1K. Though I do spend at times around 2K or more than that for a dinner for two people but this was definetly on the higher side with all the strings attached. I hope Sanjay Tyagi is listening. Do read my other reviews as well.

A Restaurant is one place where each and every individual has his own unique experience and I would not deny if my earlier readers/writers had a bad experience. But to be very honest, I had a lovely experience. May be the day, timings everything worked perfectly fine.
I went to this place located on the outer ring road after marathalli flyover with my wife, friend, friend’s wife and their cute little kid. The day was Sunday and we reached there around 7:45 PM. The ambience was awesome with those mughlai and rajgharanas look. After getting settled down we were immediately provided with the kid’s chair so that the seven month old can also enjoy the royal dinner. We ordered 2 Budwieser, I Juice and 1 Shorba as appetizers. And Wow they were there in another 5-7 minutes. Warm peanuts were offered along with Beer. Now I have seen restaurants serving peanuts but never warm. we gulped down the beer and in between the bar steward came in to ask if we would like to have more budwieser because they are left with only 2 bottles and other customer is demanding. I was taken aback by the careful attitude of the staff with so many customers in the place. Kudos!!! While enjoying our beer we ordered for some non-veg and veg snacks. The service was quick and the whole stuff arrived in 10 minutes. In the mean time we asked the staff to get us some pieces of carrot for the kiddie to enjoy the dinner. They were quick enough to provide the service. While having the appetizers, the screening of old hindi songs started and we enjoyed it thoroughly. After that we ordered for our dinner and it took some time around 15-20 minutes or so to bring in the dinner. We were busy talikng with each other and taking photographs with all those shahi turbans on our head and talwars in our hands. And in the mean time our food was getting cold especially breads but the steward came in and ask if we want the bread to be replaced. And we said yes!!! And in another 4-5 minutes we were served hot Roomali Roti/Tandoori Roti/Missi Roti. The food was awesome. For the very first time in Bangalore I happened to have such a great food. After the food we were served with sweet paan. The sweet paan left the sweet memories to be taken back with us. And it didn’t made the purse any lighter. With all the sumptuous food the bill was meagre 2100 including a tip of Rs 100. I am not able to select more than one option in ideal for, otherwise I would have definitely recommended it ideal for friends as well as romantic evenings.
I would recommend it atleast once for the location, food and courtesy offered. I will review another restaurant in my next post i.e. Sahib Sindh Sultan. It was just after two days that I happened to celebrate my anniversary at Sahib Sindh Sultan and it would be easier for me to compare these two restaurants.

A rare condition; a long wait for surgery (This is How DNA Bangalore says it)
I started visiting Apollo Hospital in January 2009 for an active discharge from my ear. The doctor - Dr. Kumaresh is one of the best ENTs across India and he is really helpful and not one of those who are acting as revenue generators for this corporate house. I was made to go under a couple of medical checkups but that was in discussion with Dr. Kumaresh who took pains to explain the pros and cons of each and every medical checkup starting from the fees to effects it might have on the body. It was only after my consent he would go ahead and write for any medic
These terms might seem strange to you but doctor took each and every pain to explain these things to me. Show me with a small Camera Device the situation of my ear. I gave him a go ahead and there I was on Feb 20th Admitted in the hospital. Feb 21st was decided to be my D-Day and I was taken into the best suites of Apollo. Given the best hospitality.
Feb 21st Morning - Tension on every one’s face. I was to be one of there rarest patient with SMA Type III who was to be operated under General Anesthesia. To mention I was denied the surgeries for all these years because no doctor was willing to take that much risk of operating me under general anesthesia as it might prove fatal. General Anesthesia was to be administered to me without any muscle relaxants and paralytic agents. Doctor’s Team was there - Right from 2 Anesthesia Specialists to Neurologist to ENT Surgeon. There were 7 of them. My wife was there along with me when I was rolled into the OT. The original surgery was planned for 2 hours and the OT was booked from 9 to 12. After rolling me into OT I was asked about any chief complaints and other complexities which might have occurred in last 12 hours. I was asked about my comfort level. Everything was monitored from my BP, pulse rate, Heart Beats etc. And there I was, put to sleep in another 10 minutes of rolling me into OT.
The clock rang 12. My wife was waiting for any good news outside. None came out. At 12:30 she recieved a call from OT. " Ma’am, Are you ---------’s Wife?".
"Yes, I am."
" The operation will take another 1 Hour.", said the voice on another side of the phone.
There she was tensed. What has happened? In another half an hour, the surgeon called her up.
"Ma’am, He has to be taken for a modified surgery and it will take 1-2 hours more. Don’t take tension. Everything is going alright."
At 15:30 she again received a call from the OT that the surgery is almost complete and it might take another 1 hour to roll him out of the OT to recovery room. After 10 minutes, the surgeon came himself and explained the situation to my wife. Finally at 16:30 I was rolled out of OT and shifted to recovery room. At 17:30, the surgeon came up and woke me. "Hello ---------, How are you doing?"
I said in a numb voice " I am fine".
"Good. Do you know that I have done the toughest surgery of my life and you are one of the most bravest patients, I ever had. You fought it back."
"Thanks", came the reply.
"We will shift you in 1 Hour to your room. Let the anasthesist visit you.", the doctor said.
After 5 minutes, my wife came in. Holding my hand as she had been doing it for last 2 years and will continue to do it for my whole life. She is one of the bravest girls I have ever seen. She is simply the best.
I again fell to sleep, only to be woken by the anasthesist at 18:30.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes, I am."
"Any complaint like breathlessness or something like that"
"No."
"Good, We are going to shift you in your room"
"Thanks"
At 18:45, everything seems to me very dreamy, I called up the nurse to check the time. She said," 18:45". I almost screamed, "What?".
"Yes, the time is 18:45."
"How long was the operation?", I asked her almost scratching my head.
" Almost 7 and a half hour".
"What????"
"Yes, Now don’t talk too much. There are stitches. We are going to shift you to your room"
"Ok"
I was shifted in my dreams to my room and there I was at 20:00 HRS completely woke up, asking my wife to give me some water. My throat was almost choked. She said that doctor has asked to give water after 2030 HRS only. After that It was almost a week that I was there in the hospital eating the most delicious food and recovering myself viewing lot of TV shows along with my wife. And finally I was discharged yesterday i.e. Feb 27th. Though I have stitches and my brain line is still exposed, there is a big hol in my ear but I am sure that I will recover soon out of it.
The hospital was awesome. The food was great, the services were best and the staff was very much supportive.
